Teaser Tuesdays are hosted by Should Be Reading. The rules are as follows:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here is mine for the day:

Mort by Terry Pratchett, page 137

It was midnight in Ankh-Morpork, but in the great city the only difference between night and day was, well, it was darker. The markets were thronged, the spectators were still thickly clustered around the whore pits, runners-up in the city's eternal and byzantine gange warfare drited silently down through the chilly waters of the river with lead weights tied to their feet, dealers in various illegal and even illogical delights plied their sidelong trade, burglars burgled, knives flashed starlight in alleyways, astrologers started their day's work and in the Shades a nightwatchmen who had lost his way rang his bell and cried out: "Twelve o'clock and all's arrrrgghh..."

"dealers in various illegal and even illogical delights" *snigger* "astrologer's starting their day's work" tee hee! I do so love Terry and Mort is one of my favourites. I just love Death and his cohorts. (I think that last sentence might be enough to get me locked up, yes?)
I loved the teaser!

Tuesdays: Teaser/Whereabouts
from Michael Chabon's Pulitzer Prize-winning book "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" page 262:

"I'll tell you what, Mr. Kavalier. If you will agree to underwrite , let us say TWO children, in addition to your brother, then we will start working on your brother's case, and do what we can to find room on MIRIAM for him."

I'm not sure if that's a spoiler since I'm not very far into the book, but there's nearly 400 pages after that passage, so I'm probably safe.

I would agree that this isn't a spoiler. I read this a year ago or so. I enjoyed it and I hope you will too!
Now that's a teaser and a half. Hope you're enjoying your read!
"Don't tell me I am not the same sweet girl you married!" A mistake, and one I paid for. Instead of putting his belt into the belt loops, Miles doubles it and walked toward me, slapping it in his palm.

Sorry - that was a bit intense, but it is the book I have nearest to me now as I just posted my review of Same Sweet Girls by Cassandra King. A very good read! :)
Now i have to look up Mort. It sounds to intriguing to miss.
My teaser is up.
Fabulous teaser!
Love Terry Pratchett! Good teaser. Mine is here
Great teaser!
I've not read much fantasy, but this looks like a good one to tell my son about!

I don't know how old your son is, so perhaps it doesn't matter, but one of my favorite things about Pratchett's books is that they are pretty safe as far as content. Maybe that is why I recommend them so often, as I don't have to worry about someone being offended by profanity or sexual content.
I see you are trying to turn us all into Pratchett fans :) Fun teaser.
I've never read Pratchett, but this sounds really good!
Thanks for your comments! Another non Pratchett reading person, I shall have to try!
Interesting teaser this week, I've never heard of the book before, but perhaps I'll pick it up
I've not read Terry Pratchett before, but after several good mentions that I've read this week, this teaser was the tipping point. Reserved a Terry Pratchett book at my library via their web site.
